Subject Leadership
The subject leader for History is Miss Katy Whyte.
They can be contacted by emailing: office@thorparch-leh.co.uk
With oversight and support from our Senior Leadership team, subject leaders oversee and monitor the intent, implementation and impact of their subject.
Intent – The ambition and principles of our curriculum for our children. The curriculum content we expect children to learn.
Implementation – How the intentions are realised. The sequence and strategies used to ensure children know and remember more.
Impact – How we check and see if children know what we expect them to and how we help them further if needed. How the knowledge and skills learnt improve and enriches their lives socially, emotionally, spiritually as well as academically.
Curriculum Statement
At Lady Elizabeth Hastings CE (VA) Primary School our vision for History is to inspire in pupils a curiosity and fascination about Britain’s past and that of the wider world. We want our pupils to know about how Thorp Arch and Yorkshire have changed through time to become the places they are today, and to understand how different places around the world have been involved in these changes. Our teaching equips pupils with knowledge about the history of Britain and how it has influenced and been influenced by the world. Our hope is that pupils then take this knowledge and understanding beyond the classroom to influence future changes in a positive way.
History has a curriculum statement outlining in more detail the intent, implementation and impact for the subject.
